The Cathay Group recently held a celebratory cocktail reception at Hong Kong's Island Shangri-La to celebrate CATHAY PAC AIR (00293.HK) and HK Express reaching the milestone of 100 passenger destinations across the globe this month.

Mable Chan, Hong Kong's Secretary for Transport and Logistics, stated at the event that as Cathay hits the magic 100, so too does Hong Kong International Airport and Hong Kong as an international aviation hub reach unprecedented heights. The Three-Runway System commissioned late last year has also propelled the robust growth of Hong Kong International Airport in the areas of passenger traffic, cargo volume, and flight movements.

Cathay's Patrick Healy said that for almost 80 years, Cathay has been proudly connecting Hong Kong to the world by continuously expanding its global footprint. In the past two years alone, it has added 30 new passenger destinations, including 18 new destinations this year alone and still counting. That rate of network expansion is at an unprecedented level for Cathay, and that has allowed it to reach this milestone of 100 destinations ahead of schedule.

Cathay's current investment program of over HKD100 billion across its entire offering of fleet, cabin products, lounges and digital services is also the most ambitious and largest in its history, Healy added. Cathay has to continue to invest and it is important that it takes full advantage of the new Three-Runway System.
