<H Shrs>HSI Drops 270 Pts at Midday; KUAISHOU-W Rockets 9% Amid Tech Rally

The HSI concluded the midday down 270 points or 1.1% at 24,906. The HSCEI fell 93 points or 1% to 8,944. The HSTECH rose 18 points or 0.3% to 5,509. The total market turnover at midday amounted to HKD167.178 billion. It is reported that Prosus will further slash its stake in MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), sinking MEITUAN-W's stock price by 3.8%. JD-SW (09618.HK) slipped 2.3% after submitting a bid for European consumer electronics retailer Ceconomy. NEW ORIENTAL-S (09901.HK) slid 2.9%. Most of the other tech stocks joined a rally. BABA-W (09988.HK) inched up 0.2%. TENCENT (00700.HK) and NTES-S (09999.HK) advanced 1.5% and 1%. BILIBILI-W (09626.HK) and SMIC (00981.HK) hiked 2%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) was hyped up 9%. In addition, MEITU (01357.HK) skyrocketed 15.3%. KINGDEE INT'L (00268.HK) and KINGSOFT CLOUD (03896.HK) spiked 11.7% and 10.1%. EAST BUY (01797.HK) swelled 7.1%, WEIMOB INC (02013.HK) leaped 5.2%. KINGSOFT (03888.HK), PA GOODDOCTOR (01833.HK), CHINASOFT INT'L (00354.HK), and GDS-SW (09698.HK) gained 3.4-4.6%. WUXI APPTEC (02359.HK) aims to raise HKD7.65 billion net through a 6.9% discounted share placement. Its stock price receded 3.8%. Under the same series, WUXI BIO (02269.HK) lost 1.8%. SINO BIOPHARM (01177.HK) added 1.7%, buoyed by a smooth licensing collaboration with Merck, with a USD300 million milestone payment expected soon. SINOPHARM (01099.HK) ebbed 3.3%.
