BABA-W (09988.HK)(BABA.US) is hosting the 2025 Apsara Conference from today (24th) to Friday (26th) in Hangzhou.

BABA-W is actively advancing its RMB380 billion AI infrastructure construction plan, and is expected to increase investment beyond the initial budget to embrace the era of Artificial Superintelligence (ASI), the Group's CEO, Eddie Wu, said.

Large models will be the next generation operating systems, and AI cloud will be the next generation of computers, Wu added. It is anticipated that globally, there may only be 5-6 super cloud computing platforms in the future.

By 2032, the energy consumption scale of Alibaba Cloud's global data centers is expected to soar by 10x, meaning that Alibaba Cloud's computing power investment will see geometric increase.

In February 2025, BABA-W announced plans to invest at least RMB380 billion over the next 3 years in building cloud computing and AI infrastructure, a scale that will exceed the total investment in cloud and AI infrastructure over the past decade.
